A former journalist, Reto Caffi later studied Film & TV postgraduate at the Academy of Media Arts, Cologne (KHM), followed by classes with Robert McKee, Judith Weston, Tom Schlesinger, Daniel Speck and more.

His fictional shortfilms have won more than 80 international awards, including an Oscar-Nomination, a gold medal at the Student Academy Award (A.M.P.A.S.), the 'Grand Prix' at the prestigious Clermont-Ferrand Shortfilmfestival and several audience awards. His films were screened at more than 300 festivals.


Reto Caffis commercial work was shortlisted at the Cannes' Young Directors Award and has won the 'Red Dot' Award for 'best communciation design' and a golden globe at the World Media Festival.


His writing experience includes the development of various serial formats, participation in a writers room (TV-series) as well as a wide array of conceptional & consulting work. He is currently working on his debut feature.


Reto Caffi is a voting member of the Swiss Film Academy and of the American Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Science.
